Dans la lumière de l’été is CHANEL’s newly released collection for summer. Desert sand, palm green, bronze, copper, gold and some touches of bright coral are the chosen shades for the collection. A true invitation to travel!
The whole collection includes an eyeshadow quad, two new stylo yeux waterproof eye liners (green and rose gold), a bronze waterproof Le Volume mascara, six lip glosses (no lipsticks this time, sad times for me, i was expecting new shades…), five nail polishes and a couple of Les Beiges powder duos.
Overall, Dans la lumière de l’été is a beautiful and wearable summer collection. I was tempted to get the Les Beiges powder duos but decided to control myself and picked up a liner Sable, the quad Empreinte du Desert and one of their recently reformulated nail varnishes Cavalière.
Empreinte du Desert is composed of four satin shadows with a golden undertone. The green one is a shimmery satin duo chrome forest green shade mixed with gold. The coppery-bronze shade is a beautiful almost metallic satin warm shade. The gold one is the star of the show! It is the most pigmented shade of the four. A gorgeous gold shadow that is not too yellow, more like a foiled white gold. Very creamy, pigmented and luminous. The last one is a deep earthy brown shade with gold shimmer running through it. Almost the exact same colour of the nail varnish Cavalière.
I love the combination of colours. They tell the story of summer nights spent in an Arabian oasis. You might think is a traditional and dupable quad but I truly think it isn’t. The green and the gold shades in particular are very different from anything I already own. I like that the shades are neutral enough for those of us who prefer a more natural look and fun enough for those who enjoy experimenting with makeup and colour a bit more.
The Stylo Yeux Waterproof are my favourite long-lasting eyeliners of all time and the moment I saw Sable I knew it would be a great addition to my collection. CHANEL’s Stylo Yeux liners comme in two different formulations: matte and shimmery-satin. Sable is a luminous, creamy and long-lasting rose gold liner that looks absolutely beautiful on the water line and lining the bottom lashes. If you can only get one thing from the collection, get this one!
I thought I would get Espadrilles, the now infamous CHANEL orangey-red nail varnish but the shade didn’t really suit me, too orange and sheer for me… and there it was, the unique Cavalière starring at me from the shelf corner. It was love at first sight. On the bottle, you can see that it is a deep earthy brown colour with gold shimmer running through it, just like the deepest shade of the quad. On the nails, it looks more like a creamy chocolate shade and the gold shimmer is very subtle and only visible when the sun hits them. It is opaque with two light coats. Also, I am very happy with the reformulation. I wore the polish for five consecutive days (washed dishes and my hair in between) and the manicure was still going strong. For reference, I wore Cavalière in combination with Essie Good to Go top coat.
What do you think of the collection? Tempted by the One thousand and One nights?
