This is a new series that I am starting up on the blog today.
Every Wednesday I intend to share with you my makeup menu of the week. The idea is to select a makeup look and the products that I’ll need to achieve it, and I’ll be wearing these through the week. This way, I make sure I’m using my whole makeup collection or at least most of it! It is also the opportunity to share with you some impressions, mini reviews and different makeup looks. I’m excited!
WEEK 1: NATURAL MAKEUP AND THE INFAMOUS HEALTHY GLOW
For this week’s makeup: I opted for a natural and ‘healthy’ looking base, nothing too heavy. The L’Oreal True Match range is brilliant for this purpose. I used True Match Super Blendable Foundation in 3.W Golden Beige (you can actually see some gold running through the product in the bottle! the gold is not perceptible on the face though, skin looks just luminous). This shade is usually a bit dark for me but I’m a tinny bit tanned at the moment and somehow I made it work. I love the finish of this one. The True Match Super Blendable Concealer (N1-2-3) is pretty good too. Lighten up the under eye area and easy to blend. To set everything without taking off the glow I’ve been using my absolute fave, Guerlain Meteorites Compact 3 Medium. Just big love for this product! For the eyes, cheeks and lips I’ve chosen warm tones. MAC Powder Blush in Cheek Pollen is one of my favourite peachy-terracotta blushes to brighten and warm up the complexion. Also from MAC, the Amber Times Nine eyeshadow palette is great and I think you might need it if you love a good old neutral and versatile palette to travel with this summer. I used Georgia Peach all over, Kitties to bring some light to the mobile lid and Cork into the crease. The perfect lipstick for this look is Rouge Dior 169 Grege. I don’t give this lipstick enough love! It’s a tawny-peach colour that goes beautifully together with Cheek Pollen. To finish things up I used my trusted Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil in Ash Blonde and Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. Finally, the NARS Audacious Mascara is a deluxe sample that I’m trying out. I think is quite good but I I find the actual applicator very big and too sharp. If the wand doesn’t scare you as much as it scares me, then is a good one to have!
Brushes used: By Terry Soft-buffer Foundation brush, Guerlain Meteorites brush, Sephora PRO Tapered Crease 19, Eco Tools Eye Define and Shade brush, Blush and Concealer brushes bought is a small shop in Japan (sorry I don’t have the brand or name).
This is the look in different lights and angles (sort of!)
As you can see is very natural and kinda glowy without using any highlighter, as I wanted it to be understated this week. For those of you thinking that it looks like I’m not wearing much makeup, well I usually don’t look like this without the help of my trusty makeup friends 😉
I don’t have any extravagant plans for this week, just work and the usual errands, so I think this ‘no makeup’ makeup look works very well for me.
I have dinner plans this weekend and the only thing that I might jazz up a bit is my eye makeup. A touch of gold shadow on the center of the eyelid (Creative Copper) and a bit of dark brown (Aromatic) to define the eye, and I’m ready to go! Maybe I’ll also use a lipliner under my lipstick (all over the lips) so it lasts longer through drinks and eventually the meal.
So guys, what do you think of the concept? Do you find it useful somehow? Hopefully with this series I can show you (and use) more products and you can actually see how they look and perform (kinda! hopefully my selfie skills will get better!).
Enjoy the rest of the week! X
