MAKEUP MENU OF THE WEEK #5

This week I’ve been into the whole golden sunkissed look. Summer obliges!

I dusted off my MAC Extra Dimension Bronzer from last year’s summer collection, which I almost hit pan on, I also started using CHANEL’s Empreinte du Desert quad which truly is summer eyes in a palette and DIOR Forever Foundation has been keeping my skin flawless under the sweat inducing Californian sun.

For this week’s makeup: My base of choice has been DIOR Forever. This newly reformulated foundation is brilliant for the warmer months. The finish is a demi-matte/satin and it wears beautifully during the day. It keeps shine at bay. Coverage is a solid medium and buildable. Love is not enough to describe how I feel about this foundation. I’ve been loving to apply it with my Beauty Blender. I wasn’t sure about the beauty blender in the beginning but it all depends on the type of foundation you use it with. It works the best with more creamy and pigmented products in my opinion. My bronzer of choice has been MAC Extra Dimension in Aphrodite’s Shell. Sadly, it was limited edition from last year’s summer collection and I still haven’t found a product that I love as much to replace it with. Maybe the Make Up Forever bronzers are similar in consistency?

I’ve been giving the Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer a go. Coverage is good but the shade I have is a tad dark for me. For spots and discoloration it works pretty well. I’ve been all about NARS blushes lately. I switch up between the natural and peachy Madly and the bright pink Goulue. For a bit of golden goddess-nessNYX  Illuminator Powder in Ritualistic is where all the light is at. Beautiful powder! I will be putting up a review soon. For brows, I keep things simple and looking natural with my beloved Laura Mercier Eye Brown Pencil in Ash Blonde (best colour match I’ve found for my brows).

For eyes, the star of the show is my new CHANEL Empreinte du Desert quad. On a daily basis I wear a combination of the gold and the coppery-bronze shades (review and swatches here). To define things up I use their Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Sable from the same collection. I love this very luminous rose gold liner, so special and different. During the hot and long days of summer I strongly recommend using NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base under your shadows. They won’t budge. I’ve also been trying this Maybelline Master Duo Liquid Liner in Bronzed Shimmer. Not quite sure about this product just yet. I also have two mascaras of choice at the moment. Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes for the drama, volume and the blackest lashes of life, but sadly it smudges if you are sweating or touching your eyes. So I wear YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Waterproof on the bottom lashes and as a mascara top coat on the upper lashes. I know this is a bit of an extravagant behaviour but I do it because I love the effect of the CT Mascara and I really want to use it up now that it’s open. You can certainly use just one and call it a day.

Last but not least, my lip products of choice lately are CHANEL Glossimer in Giggle (review and swatches here), MAC Modesty, a cremesheen neutral pink nude lipstick and MAC Brave, a satin medium tone pinky-mauve shade.
