This week I’ve been truly in spring mode! I think I FINALLY got out of my hibernation state. I have even been incorporating some pink and mauves into my makeup routine (shocker! I know!). Usually, I’m more of a brown/bronze/gold kinda girl. You know the drill, pink makeup might be a small step for humanity but a big one for me 😉
WEEK 3: OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE. BON BONS, MAUVES & PINK FOR SPRING
For this week’s makeup: I’ve been very excited to try the new to me and very hyped drugstore foundation Revlon Colorstay for Normal/Dry Skin (Natural Beige 220) and also give my new Japonesque Velvet Touch Concealer (02) a proper test. Another newbie that I’ve been extremely excited to use on a daily basis is Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara. It gives me the blackest and thickest lashes. I love it! If you want to see my full review on this product check this post. As spring hit me hard this week, I thought using my Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Eyeshadow Palette would be appropriate. As much as I love the concept of this palette and it makes me happy to look at, every eye look I’ve created with it has been a bit out of my comfort zone… The colours are very pigmented and not necessarily my traditional bronzey-brown colours (which is why I got it in the first place!). So I’m trying to embrace the more pigmented mauve shades at the moment and see how it goes. After all, I should really have some fun and experiment with makeup from time to time, right? I always like to use a primer under my eyeshadows and the one that rules them all is my trusty NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base. Another favourite of mine that I can’t stop wearing is CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Erable (919). It really is the perfect consistency and colour for me. For my brows, is all about Anastasia Beverly Hills at the moment. The Brow Definer in Taupe and the Clear Brow Gel. Done! For face powders, I decided to dust off from my collection three products that I haven’t been using too much lately. My Mini Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light and also my Lancome Perfecting Pressed Powder which I use more as a bronzer than a setting powder because the shade is a tad too dark for me. I love that it has the texture of a silky setting powder but it adds a bit of warmth and colour to my face. For blush, I picked NARS Madly. A soft tawny peach shade that is perfect to add a bit of colour and light to the cheeks. For the lips, you know I’ve been obsessed with NYX lip pencils lately so I got a new shade, Light Pink, which is perfect paired up with any pink lipstick. I recently got two of the newly launched L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge lipsticks that are GORGEOUS! The texture, the colour pay-off… I think I will write a blogpost just for them, so stay tuned. And of course, a nude lipstick to switch things up from time to time. My new love, Charlotte Tilbury Matte revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria.
I think I could get used to the idea of pink lipstick. Specially after trying the wonderful L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge ones… I’ll keep you posted!
So friends! Mauves and Pinks. Yay or Nay?
