I was browsing the aisles of ULTA the other day and these sexy lipsticks captured my attention. I have been a fan of L’OREAL lipsticks from as far as I can remember and these ones looked new to me… I haven’t heard (or read) anyone talking about them. I know they have a matte version of the Infallible lipsticks but these are creamy and moisturising. I couldn’t let them behind so I blindly chose two shades to try out.
First, the packaging. I absolutely love it! I think is modern, fun and elegant at the same time. You can see the colour shade right away and I love the contrast with the black acrylic. They don’t look cheap and they shouldn’t anyway, at $9.99 they aren’t the cheapest of the drugstore. They also make a very satisfying clicking noise when you close them.
The colour range is good and seems very suitable for spring and summer. Loads of reds, pinks and berries. A couple of oranges and browns. Deep and bright lipstick lovers will definitely find their joy. Personally, I’m missing more nudes. I am already crossing my fingers in the hope that L’OREAL brings out more shades.
The formula, texture, finish. This is where it gets interesting! Honestly and without willing to exaggerate, I think they are the best lipstick formula the drugstore has to offer. Although, keep in mind that this is coming from someone who prefers a more hydrating lipstick to a drying matte. They are very pigmented, creamy, hydrating and the colour stays on the lips all day (infallible in did!). They even seem to have a plumping effect on me. It’s interesting because you can feel the lips absorbing the moisture during the day. The shine dies down and the lipstick becomes more matte as the day goes on, leaving almost a stain on the lips. Brilliant! The only thing that might bother some is that they are a tad sticky. Which is the case for most of their lipsticks from the infallible range.
Tender Berry is my favourite of the two and a beautiful pinky-nude shade for spring and summer. Charming Lilac is a bright fuchsia with a cold lilac undertone. If your local store doesn’t have testers keep in mind that the shades are not necessarily truthful to the colour of the packaging. They are brighter in the case of these two shades.
Overall, I think these are brilliant for the warmer months ahead and a good alternative to bright gloss for those who prefer a lipstick. A white dress, a pair of bold sunglasses and your favourite Infallible. Done!
