10 Carry-On Essentials | How to Have a Better Flight

Flying to distant destinations is one of the things that excites me the most in life. A big part of it being a great experience is having a decent (maybe even a good) flight. You know the drill! ‘it’s the journey not the destination‘…

Well! Sometimes the journey, specially when it takes a long flight to get to the final destination can truly be a dreadful experience. I’m saying this only because I’m not the greatest of fliers. But! I have perfected a packing routine, or mainly things that I always take with me on flights, that make the whole flying experience acceptable and even enjoyable!

These are the 10 things I always take with me on my carry-on. Be prepared and enjoy the journey! 😉

1.Hand LuggageLongchamp Le Pliage Tote | NU-G Canvas Bag

A big, comfortable and durable large bag where you can throw everything in and then use it as a feet stepper? holder? You know, something where you can rest your feet on in case you want to be able to actually sleep in economy.

2. BooksHappiness by Matthieu Ricard | The Lake House by Kate Morton

Always take a good book with you and also a couple of magazines. Flights are a great occasion     to disconnect and take the time to read something that is not pixelated. Getting lost in a new and exotic story is also part of the journey.

3. Fun Sleeping Mask: Polar Bear Sleep Mask | Eyelashes Sleep Mask

A sleeping mask is one of the most important things to take with you. Again, just in case you are a bad flier like me and you want to actually be able to sleep a bit. Sadly, most companies don’t handle sleeping masks anymore. The bright side is that you can get a much cuter and comfortable one!

4. Favourite Chocolate: Green & Black’s Organic Milk Chocolate with Almonds

This is my preferred airplane comfort food! If you’d rather eat crisps or candy take that with you. You never know when you might need a sweet bite to make you feel better. Airplane food is not my favourite…

5. Face Mist: Avene Eau Thermale

I like this very soothing and simple mist but if you’d rather have one with essential oils or a specific scent, go for it! Trust me, face mists can make the whole difference. Planes can be crowded, smelly, and will take all the moisture out of your face. Some spritz will make you feel more comforted and relaxed. (Remember they need to be less than 100ml).

6. Relaxing Roll On: L’Occitane Lavender Relaxing Roll-On Oil

Speaking of relaxation! If you are an anxious flier this will help you feel more comfy. Placebo effect or not, is nice to have a soothing essential oil with you.

7. Clear Makeup Pouch: Sephora Collection The Gallivanter Clear To Go 3 in 1 Bags

You can organise everything in these ones and throw them in your travel tote! They are clear so you can find everything quicker and they are plastic so if something spills you can easily wash it off.

8. Big Scarf: La Fiorentina Wool and Cashmere Shawl

This is a main main essential! Comfy and cozy, you can even spray a bit of perfume on it to make you feel better when you are tucked up in it. The bigger and softer the better. Planes can get very cold and their blankets are most of the time pretty pitiful.

9. Mini Skincare Routine: Caudalie Favorites Skincare Kit

Don’t forget your skin when you are flying! These mini products are great to take with you on the go. They even come in their own clear pouch so you can easily passe through customs with them. Caudalie products smell like sweet grapes which is a wonderful soothing scent.

10. Cozy Socks: Marks & Spencer Cashmere Socks

Take cozy socks with you. As I said before, planes can get very cold! It gives me the shivers when I see people flying in sandals… how do they do? The cozier the socks the better! Your feet will be forever thankful.
