Lipsticks of the Moment - Summer Nude Lipsticks - casalorena.com

I packed eight lipsticks! Eight!

In my defence, I always want to have options and I just got a new little makeup bag with lilac and sheer stripes that was too cute and perfect to hold all my lip products! I wanted to fully pack it with goodness…

Shu Uemura BG 965: I wanted to bring my favourite Japanese Lipstick to my Japanese holidays! It was actually from a department store in Kyoto where I got it from in the first place. It is a bit sad that Shu lipsticks don’t have names but only a code with letters and numbers BUT they have some of the best formulas in the market! This is one of my favourite creamy and long-lasting dusty-mauve-rose lipsticks I own. It’s truly gorgeous and comfortable to wear.

YSL Volupte Sheer Candy 13 Griotte Mocha:┬áThis is the first Volupte Sheer Candy I own and it’s already one of my favourite summer lip products, ever! Super easy to wear and hydrating. It goes with everything. It complements a no-makeup look or a more sophisticated look too. It is an hybrid between a lipstick and a lip balm so I have been wearing a lot after my lips were incredibly dry after 11+ hours in a plane.

MAC Cosmo: Cosmo is an amplified (soft, hydrating and pigmented) medium tone pink-nude lipstick. Super comfortable to wear and a beautiful colour for spring and summer. It is one of my latest lipstick acquisitions from MAC and I can’t believe I didn’t purchase it before. I love it! I recommend you give this one a swatch!

Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria: This one has been a big fave of mine lately. A gorgeous nude, almost my perfect your lips but better colour, so I couldn’t imagine leaving it behind… Now, with the heat and humidity that I am experimenting at the moment I have to confess that I don’t feel like wearing a matte lipstick. I should have probably left this one at home.

NARS Rosecliff: This lipstick was released as part of the latest NARS Spring Collection. It is a beautiful dusty nude pink shade. The formula is a creamy satin, smooth and comfortable to wear. A great lipstick to have in your handbag and applying on the go. I like this one so much that I never want to be without it!

MAC Brave: I don’t think this lippie needs any introductions anymore… It has been a big blogger favourite during the last year and I’m not gonna lie, I bought into the hype and got it. It is a medium cold tone mauve-pink lipstick. The formula is a satin although it sets very matte. I brought it with me just because I was wearing it so much before the holidays that I thought I would miss it. The reality is, matte or matte-satin lipsticks don’t agree too much with me on summer holidays. I need sheen and hydration!

MAC So Select: This is the deeper option I brought with me for when I feel like I need more drama! Maybe for a night out in Tokyo? We will see if I find the occasion to wear it. In any case, it is a beautiful deep dirty rose shade with a creamy matte finish. If Whirl and Twig had a baby this is what it would look like!

NYX Rome Soft Matte Lip Cream: I added this one to my makeup bag last minute on a whim! I thought it was of good measure to bring a long-lasting liquid lipstick with me, in case I want my lipstick to last through an entire ramen meal. I’m still not entirely convinced… I’ll keep you posted on ramen and long-lasting liquid lipsticks experiments!

I have to be entirely honest with you. So far into the trip, I’ve only wore the YSL Volupte Sheer Candy and the Shu. With the heat my lips dried out and I need all the hydration and shine I can get! Maybe just bring two lipsticks the next time…We will see what happens in the weeks to come!
