This summer NARS has launched several small (and not so small) collections: the Limited Edition Orgasm, the Tahiti Bronze Collection, the Under Cover Collection (their main summer collection) and the Hot Sand Collection (the latest one) (check all the collections here).
To be quite honest, I wish I could’ve picked up more items from the different collections but I was (had to be) reasonable. I think all their summer launches have been incredible! The Under Cover Collection in particular with its beautiful packaging, products and colour palette, was truly stunning!
After many trips to the NARS counter, I made up my mind and picked up the products that I coveted the most and I thought would make a good addition to my collection. Here is the break down!
Velvet Matte Skin Tint Broad Spectrum SPF 30. This is a new base product from NARS. An hybrid between a tinted moisturizer with SPF and a foundation. The packaging is sleek, easy to use and travel friendly. When you squeeze the tube, it delivers just the right amount of product. I got the shade Alaska (light 2) which is a warm tone medium-light shade, by no means is truly light! If you have light skin you might need a bit of a tan to match this shade. Velvet Matte Skin Tint has a creamy texture that dries from a radiant to a more velvet matte finish. Coverage is a solid medium although you can get a lighter coverage if you use just a tiny bit.
NARS Double Intensity Blush in Sexual Content. This is a shimmery satin blush with illuminating properties. The compact holds two shades, a dusty mauve-pink and a light warm peachy-nude. They are subtle (but buildable) and add just the right amount of colour and light to the cheeks. I am in love with both shades! The texture of these powders is soft and blends effortlessly. You can use them dry or wet. If you pass by a NARS counter I highly recommend you give this one a try!
NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette is an online & NARS boutiques exclusive (here). This small and compact eyeshadow palette holds six shades, two mattes and four shimmers. The upper row has three cold tone shades: a light shimmery champagne-pink, a medium tone shimmery mauve-taupe and a medium tone matte taupe shade. The lower row has three warm shades: a shimmery peach-copper, a shimmery rose-gold and a deep matte chocolate shadow. All pigmented and easy to blend. Great little palette for travelling and on the go!
The summer collections by NARS have definitely been a highlight in the makeup department! Their seasonal dual intensity shadows are beautiful too and the lip covers in Get Dirty and Overheated are still tempting me! I’m trying to practise self-control!
I’ll review the Velvet Matte Skin Tint and the Long Hot Summer Eye Shadow Palette for you, in more depth and with swatches, in a couple of upcoming posts!
